Port Elphinstone Pharmacy Application - Public Consultation 2026

NHS Grampian is in consultation with Galen Will, Director of Will Chemists, Inverurie Ltd., regarding his proposed application for a new pharmacy to open in Port Elphinstone, Inverurie. NHS Grampian has to decide whether granting of the application would be necessary or desirable in order to secure adequate provision of pharmaceutical services in the neighbourhood in which the premises are located by persons whose names are included in the pharmaceutical list.

Will Chemist, Inverurie Ltd., who wishes to submit the application has defined the area to which they would be providing services as: "Port Elphinstone and Inverurie"

The proposed name is: "Will Chemists, Elphinstone Road".

Will Chemists, Elphinstone Road, propose to provide the following services from the pharmacy should the application be granted:

NHS Services Private Services

 

  • NHS Prescription Dispensing
  • Gluten Free Foods
  • Stoma Supply and Support
  • Unscheduled Care – help if you have run out of essential medicines
  • Expert advice on medicines and ailments, including high risk and new medicines
  • Medicines Care and Review – support to manage chronic illness medication management
  • Pharmacy First – advice, treatment/referral for many minor illnesses, UTI/EHC/Bridging Contraception, Impetigo, Shingles.
  • Stop Smoking support – NRT and Varenicline
  • Free of Charge Sanitary Products
  • Pharmacy First Plus – advanced community pharmacy service where specially trained Pharmacist Independent Prescriber (PIP) can treat common acute conditions (e.g. skin issues, severe sore throats, respiratory infections, cellulitis/skin infections) that go beyond the standard Pharmacy First service, offering immediate access to treatment, including prescriptions or referral, improving assessment of patients before attending GP Practice and reducing demand on GP visits.

  • Substance Use Service – including supervised supply, injection equipment supply and disposal, naloxone training/supply/provision

Will Chemists proposes to provide these services at the following times:

  • Monday to Friday: 9 am – 6 pm
  • Saturday: 9 am – 1 pm
  • Sunday: closed

 

 

NHS Grampian and Will Chemists, Inverurie Ltd., are undertaking a joint public consultation. This consultation has two main purposes:

 

a.    to assess the current provision of pharmaceutical services in the proposed area of Port Elphinstone, Inverurie, Aberdeenshire, and whether it is adequate; and

b.    to establish the level of support from residents in the proposed area of Port Elphinstone, Inverurie, Aberdeenshire for the application.

The consultation is for people who live in or around the area of: Port Elphinstone and Inverurie.

This consultation will close at midnight on Thursday 2nd July 2026.
